Well, to be more specific -- the heroine is Paige Nichols, animal control officer :-)

Or as she puts it, her town's Official Ms. Lady Dog Catcher Person :-)

I like Paige a lot! But she has a couple of, um, problems.

The first is that ex-fiance of hers. He's very . . . attractive. But he's a typical man *rolls eyes* (sorry, guys!!!!) -- there must be SOME reason he's turned back up in Paige's life, but getting him to actually TALK about anything is another story!!!

Her other problem is just as perplexing. She found this loose dog one night while she was off duty -- an intact pit bull -- and she suspects the dog has been used to fight.

When Paige takes it on herself to uncover what she suspects is an organized dog fighting ring . . . well, let's just say that's when things get REALLY interesting!!!
